USING PUBLIC PROCUREMENT TO PROMOTE AN INNOVATIVE, SUSTAINABLE AND INCLUSIVE GROWTH: STRATEGIES AND CHALLENGES

There is a growing attention in Italy and in the rest of Europe on the strategic use of public procurement to purchase works, goods or services to promote a sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth. The question is key for the future of Europe, given that public procurement accounts for about 19% of GDP in the EU.
This workshop aims to provide a wide but focused discussion on such strategic use of public procurement , in the light of the new tools and challenges introduced by the new European Directive on Public Procurement . The workshop will discuss the main economic, legal and institutional issues In Italy and in the rest of Europe, and make suggestions towards their resolution.

Proxenter
Proxenter is a multi-disciplinary research centre at the University of Rome “ Tor Vergata”, created in April 2013. Its mission is to undertake research on public and private procurement and on the supply chain, and to foster cooperation between researchers, private sector and public administrations, through dialogue, research and education.
The event benefits from the patronage of the Department for the European Affairs by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the support of the International Master in Public Procurement Management at the University of Rome “ Tor Vergata”.
